HTML / XHTML Markup Validation

These services provide W3C mark-up (HTML and XHTML) validation of both online and uploaded files, available from the forms below. Whichever service you use, the file you specify is checked against the latest standard and the results displayed in a new browser window.

If you are unsure about which validation options to select, then we would suggest you stick with the default values as we have set them. This will automatically detect the mark-up (HTML or XHTML), the character set, and the DTD to be used for the validation itself. You will receive a reasonably comprehensive report, complete with links to errors in the source code, if any are detected.

You can find out more about W3C validation by clicking here.

Online Files

This service checks files that can be accessed directly through a URL. Simply enter the URL to the file in the box provided. If you specify path only, then the default home directory file name for the server (e.g. index.html, default.asp, etc.) is assumed.
